Maintenance Director: Frank Gorman
Community: Stone Hill at Andover

  1. What first made you interested in working in Senior Living?
I’ve always admired the knowledge, history and many stories that people in their golden years have.
  2. How long have you been working in Senior Living and what was your first job in this field?
I became self-employed in the construction field at the age of 18. Thanksgiving of 2022, after 50 years I decided to hand over my construction company with all the tractors, excavators and trucks to my two sons who have worked with me since they were out of college. I was tired of being out in the cold. I applied and was offered the job by my Executive Director, Karla in December of 2022.
  3. What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
The history and stories they all have but more so seeing in their eyes the feeling that they know they are safe with me at the helm with what I do here at Stone Hill.
  4. What is one thing you wish everyone new about what it means to be a Maintenance Director?
Since I started at the onset, I realized that the position was more than Maintenance. Being responsible for fire safety issues and major plant, HVAC, water supply, fire suppression systems – the title should be called more of a Facility Director or Plant and Facility Director.
  5. What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in Senior Living?
Make sure you’re a good organizer because there’s many moving targets daily.
  6. What keeps you invested in the field?
A great Executive Director and other directors that collectively truly care about our house of moms and dads.
  7. What is your favorite part about your job?
Seeing happy faces on the many seniors as they participate in the many activates and events.

Fun fact about Frank – In August of 2023 he won the Mass ALA (Massachusetts Assisted Living Associations) Maintenance Award! Click here to check out all of the Northbridge winners.
