Celebrate International Chef’s Day at Stroudwater Lodge
On October 20th we celebrate International Chef’s Day – an opportunity to recognize the many positive impacts, inspiring stories and all the joy that chefs bring to our lives.
International Chef’s Day was created by the late, Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher in 2004 to bring people together to recognize, educate and inspire the next generation about the joys of cooking, the importance of healthy eating and the growing need for sustainability.
At Northbridge, we are celebrating International Chef’s Day by learning a little bit more about our talented Culinary Directors.

What is one of your most popular meals among residents at The Lodge?
Lobster rolls of course! Here at The Lodge we provide a special birthday meal individually designed for each resident. Lobster rolls are by far the most popular choice.
What is your favorite meal to prepare for residents?
My favorite meal to prepare are braised short ribs with risotto and broccoli with lemon butter.
Advice for anyone in the Culinary industry who is thinking about making the switch to senior living?
I think for the most part it provides a better work/life balance as apposed to restaurants with a much more rewarding outcome.
What is your favorite meal to enjoy?
Duck confit with fresh strawberries, goat cheese, and greens.
What is your favorite part about being a Chef?
In general it’s the idea of being able to create something for others to enjoy. Even if it’s simply putting your own spin on something to make it your own.
What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
The residents, always the residents. I love walking through the dining room, having a meaningful conversation and feeling the reward of being part of their day.

Our fresh and local foods come from growers throughout New England as well as our own community gardens.
