How long have you been working in senior living and what first made you interested in the field?
I’ve been working in assisted living for six and a half years. When I was pivoting careers in 2020, assisted living renewed a passion I had many years ago for seniors and service.
What is your favorite part about working in senior living?
My favorite part about working in senior living is seeing our residents and families enjoying their time here together. Whether it’s a visit, an outing, or holiday celebration, it is wonderful to be a part of creating those memories.
What is one thing you wish everyone new about being a Business Office Director?
One thing I wish everyone knew about the business office is that Business Office Directors have multiple responsibilities in the community that require a lot of balancing. While our typical day is mostly behind the scenes, onboarding new associates, keeping records compliant, and meeting important deadlines, we also enjoy being out of the office connecting with associates, residents and families.
What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in senior living?
My best advice is kindness is a currency, and to be patient with yourself and those around you.
What is the best part about working at The Mariner or at Northbridge?
The best part about working at The Mariner is that it is a new community, and there is a lot of pride from associates and residents here when opening. The best part about working for Northbridge is that I feel supported when I have questions or need guidance.
What is your favorite way to connect with residents?
My favorite way to connect with residents is to enjoy their programs with them. Jewelry making, music, bingo, and bocce ball, it is so much fun! An added joy is when the residents share their family’s milestones with you and watching their faces light up.
