Sales Director Spotlight – Ann Lamere

Sales Director: Ann Lamere
Community: Autumn Glen
How long have you been working in Senior Living and what first made you interested in the field?
My very first experience in Senior Living, as a young high school student, was in 1995 when I volunteered at a local nursing home. That experience sparked a lifelong passion to serve the generations that came before me. In 2002, I became an Activities Director in a long-term care community and have been in the industry ever since.
What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
My favorite part about working in Senior Living is the connections that I make with the residents. Having the opportunity to learn about who they are and their stories of how they got to where they are today is inspiring. They are stories of struggles and triumphs, love and loss, grand adventures and quiet moments. I am honored that they share these vulnerable moments with me and their words will forever hold a place in my heart.
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about being a Sales Director?
We are not here to “sell” you anything. We are here to support you through a decision that can be difficult and emotional. We are here to connect with families and future residents as they discuss their fears and reservations about such a big change in their life. We are here to give hugs freely when people need to feel a moment of calm in their storm. We are here to begin building a safe space of trust and mutual respect. We are here to celebrate the positive moments that a new resident experiences after they move in. We are here to share in the joy of witnessing the beginnings of new friendships. We might be Sales Directors, but we are so much more than Sales.
What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in Senior Living?
This industry has a way of capturing your whole heart. Be open to connecting with the people that you serve. Understand who they are and who they were before. Always see the residents as human beings and not a task to be completed. If you always lead with your heart, you can never go wrong.
What is the best part about working at Autumn Glen or at Northbridge?

Our residents, families, associates and the Director Team are truly special people who show up for one another. They empathy and love that is given is reciprocated by everyone. It is something that is unique and simply heartwarming in this world. What is your best tip for a family starting their senior living search?
Before reaching out to a senior living community, take time as a family to discuss what matters most to the future resident. Once needs and preferences are clearly defined, you can create a thoughtful checklist of questions based on your loved one’s priorities. This approach leads to visits with intention and a clear sense of purpose. Don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as needed to feel confident that the community is the right fit. And finally, trust your instincts—if something doesn’t feel right during a visit, it’s okay to listen to that inner voice.
