Meet Sherry Couture, Resident Care Director at Avita of Stroudwater, whose passion for senior living has guided her throughout most of her career. Beginning as a CNA and later becoming a nurse, Sherry has spent more than 14 years providing compassionate care, with over half of that time dedicated to Northbridge. She finds the greatest joy in building meaningful relationships with residents and their families, listening to their life stories, and helping them maintain the best possible quality of life. Guided by the belief that senior living is more than a job, but a calling, Sherry brings empathy, dedication, and unwavering support to residents, families, and associates each day. How long have you been working in Senior Living and what first made you interested in the field?
I have been in senior care most of my career, I began as a CNA and eventually went to nursing school and have been a nurse for 14 years, I have been with Northbridge more than half of that!
What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
Getting to know the residents and their families, listening to them talk about their past.
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about being a Resident Care Director?
It is not just a job but a passion, it’s a passion to make a difference with residents, families and staff.
What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in Senior Living?
There will be tough days, but remember you are making a difference in people’s lives and providing them with the best quality of life.
What is the best part about working at Avita of Stroudwater or at Northbridge?
We are a true family at both Avita of Stroudwater and Northbridge, no matter what you are going through there is an abundance of support.
What is one thing you want families to know as they’re moving their loved one in?
This is not an easy journey but myself and my team will be there to support them throughout the journey and not to hesitate to ask for help or support.
