- What first made you interested in working in Senior Living?
I was a contractor and one of my clients was at a Skilled Nursing Facility. While working in that building I had the inclination that this environment is where I should be. I felt the pull! I was ready for a career change, and this seemed like a great way to use my skill set in a different way. - How long have you been working in Senior Living and what was your first job in this field?
I have been working in Senior Living for 14 years. My first job in this field was as a Maintenance Assistant. - What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
Forming relationships with people. I love coming to work and being surrounded by so many different people and personalities. It’s nice to become like a family with our residents. - What is one thing you wish everyone knew about being a Maintenance Director?
It is an exciting job with lots of moving parts and every day is different. - What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in Senior Living?
If you have a servant heart and you feel like you want to help people, this is a great industry to do that. - What keeps you invested in the field?
My faith tells me to “Love thy neighbor” and to care for people. Working in Senior Living helps me with that ongoing mission. - What is your favorite part about your job?
Bringing joy and being of service to our seniors. It’s nice to be able to do for others what they might not be able to do for themselves any longer. - What is the best part about working at Stafford Hill or at Northbridge?
The best part of working for Northbridge is the culture. There is just a great atmosphere within the company. You are valued. Great support and communication all around. - What is your favorite way to help a new family during the move in process?
I love hanging their pictures and artwork, showing them how to use the heat and all the other things about their new home. Those first couple of interactions are a good way to really get to know each other. I want them to be comfortable and to ensure them that we are here for whatever they may need.
