Lillian Chick Growth Story

A Northbridge Career Growth Story

Meet Lillian Chick – Weekend Lead CRMA

At Northbridge we are proud to foster a culture of opportunity and growth for our associates as they learn about life in the community, working with our residents and about the senior living industry. Many of our associates have been able to thrive and grow with us and we are excited to share their stories with you!

Years at Northbridge: 2 years
First job at Northbridge: Personal Support Specialist
Current job:  Weekend Lead CRMA Certified Residential Medication Aid (CRMA)
Community: Avita of Wells

Her story of growth:

  1. How long have you worked for Northbridge?
I have worked at Northbridge for two years. (Hit two years in March)
  2. What made you want to apply for a job in senior living?
I wanted to work with people, it made me feel like my heart was full and I had so much love to give. Before I started working in the filed I felt like I had a hole in my heart and something was missing, once in the field I felt complete and that this is where I was needed.
  3. What was your first role at Avita of Wells? What is your role now?
My first role was as a PSS, now I am a lead CRMA on the weekends.
  4. What have you learned about senior living as you’ve grown in your career at Northbridge?
I have learned that seniors just want a companion and someone to talk to as well as to listen to them. Sitting with a resident and just talking or holding there hand and walking becomes a comfort to them and they feel safe and secure. I love making Avita feel like home for our residents.
  5. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is helping the seniors and getting that one thank you or even just a smile says a thousand words from them. Knowing I could make their day by just helping with a walk or a sock is everything.
  6. What would you say to someone who is thinking of starting a job in Senior Living?
This is a career and you need to want to be here not because you need to be but because you feel this is where you are meant to be.
  7. What differentiates Northbridge from other companies?
Northbridge is different, it’s accepting of everyone.  Upper management is supportive of the associates and always willing to help on the floor and listen when others are saying something.
  8. Can you describe how your responsibilities have changed as you’ve grown in your new position?
I speak with families when a situation comes up or when they want to talk. I go to the nurse on call so she does not get a ton of calls. I help with manager on duty call outs and finding coverage.
  9. What have you learned in your new job since being promoted?
I have learned more about Avita  and how procedures are done and situations are handled. I learned more of what the management team deals with on a daily basis, what the nurses have to deal with and  am happy I am able to help. I have been working to show other associates how things could be done more efficiently, how things could be handled better. I work to cut out the middle man and have a direct contact for staff. I love being able to support our team in any way I can.
