The Face Behind the Front Desk – Julie, Stroudwater Lodge
May 8th is National Receptionist Day and anyone who walks into our communities knows that our front desk associates are often the face of our communities. They are a listening ear, a friendly face, a jack of all trades and have a knack for knowing what’s happening in all parts of our communities. We are excited to celebrate a few of the faces behind the front desk as part of National Receptionist Day!

- What is your favorite part about working at the front desk at Stroudwater Lodge?
I enjoy seeing how happy my residents are, it’s a daily thing to stop at the front desk in the morning to grab their newspaper and chit chat for a bit. I enjoy being able to talk and laugh with them. They always tell me how missed I am when I’m not there for a few days! - What is one thing you wish everyone knew about working at the front desk?
The front desk is busier than one would expect. Not only do we take calls from residents and family members, but we talk to doctors offices, the ER, nurses, pharmacies, vendors, we are constantly multitasking keeping up with phone calls, messages, emails, work orders, scheduling appoints for residents, people who come to visit our community, the list is literally endless. - What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being able to help even when it’s the smallest task, residents are so thankful and look at you like you just saved the world. My residents make me feel like I’m appreciated and they always make sure they tell me that. - What is one piece of advice you would share with a new family member or resident moving into your community?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and ask for help! - What is one thing you wish you knew before starting your job?
No one tells you how attached you will get to the residents and resident family members, they literally become your family.
