Executive Director Spotlight – Kristen Tucker

Executive Director: Kristen Tucker
Community: Laurentide at Mashpee Commons
How long have you been working in Senior Living and what first made you interested in the field?
I have been in Senior Living for almost 10 years – all with Northbridge! I worked in skilled nursing for many years before that and needed a change. I was not finding any joy in my work – that all changed when I started working at Stafford Hill.
What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
I love being part of an engaged, caring team whose group purpose to provide exceptional care and services to seniors. I also love being able to engage with our residents everyday and being part of their lives. This truly feels like home to them and to me.
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about being an Executive Director?
It is a big job, but we are able to have a lot of fun too with our residents and teams.
What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in Senior Living?
Senior living requires a kinder, gentler approach to leadership and operations than you may be used to coming from outside of this field. Here it is all about the people, doing the right thing for our residents and our teams. The operational outcomes will be there if you lead in that way.
What is the best part about working at Laurentide or at Northbridge?
Being surrounded, and supported by, such talented and care individuals. The decisions made at Northbridge, no matter which realm they are in, always feel like they are coming from the right place.
What is one tip you have to ensure new residents and families feel welcome and supported from day one?
We always try to learn as much as we can about our new residents so that their experience feels unique to them and special when they arrive. The entire team is focussed on the new resident’s experience – not only directors but frontline associates as well.
