What first made you interested in working in Senior Living?

I’ve always had a heart for caring for others, and my nursing career has shown me the profound impact compassionate care can have, especially for older adults. I was drawn to senior living because it allows me to build lasting relationships while supporting residents in living with dignity, purpose, and joy.

How long have you been working in Senior Living and what was your first job in this field?

I have been a Registered Nurse for 19 years, working in a variety of settings from hospital-based care to community health. My transition into senior living came in 2020, when I accepted a position as an RN in a senior community. I quickly discovered how much I loved the deep, ongoing relationships I could build in this field. In 2022, I became a Director of Nursing in a small community in Danbury, CT and after two years, I decided to find a position closer to home, which led me to Riverbend at Farmington.

What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?

The connections. Every resident has a unique life story, and I consider it an honor to learn from them, share moments of joy, and support them through challenges. Those bonds make every day meaningful.

Lead with compassion, patience, and an open heart. Technical skills are important, but what truly makes a difference is the genuine care you bring to the role.

What keeps you invested in the field?

Seeing the difference we make every single day. Whether it’s a resident’s smile, a family’s gratitude, or watching a team member grow in their role, the rewards of this work are immeasurable.

What is your favorite part about your job?

Being able to create a positive, safe, and loving environment where residents feel at home. I take pride in knowing we are not just providing care we are enriching lives.

The sense of community. Our team works like a family, and we are united by the same goal, to help our residents live well and love life. That shared commitment makes all the difference.
