Meet Chris Zaniewski, Maintenance Director at Laurentide at Mashpee Commons, who has dedicated 37 years to senior living since beginning his career as a housekeeper in 1988. Inspired by the comfort he felt with his own grandparents, Chris treasures the daily connections he shares with residents and finds great reward in keeping them safe and supported. What first made you interested in working in Senior Living?
I was always close to my Grandparents and I always felt comfortable and secure around seniors.
How long have you been working in Senior Living and what was your first job in this field?
I have been in this field for 37 years, I started as a Housekeeper in 1988 at Cape Heritage Nursing Home.
What is your favorite part about working in Senior Living?
Just talking and having fun with the residents!
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about being a Maintenance Director?
That it is a very rewarding job.
What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in Senior Living?
Be yourself and ask for help if you need it.
What keeps you invested in the field?
I love what I do and I love keeping my residents safe and secure.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part is obviously the residents but I also love my coworkers and my department head teammates.
What is the best part about working at Laurentide at Mashpee Commons or at Northbridge?
The company really cares about you and it shows in all the gestures that they make like all of the employee appreciation things that are done throughout the year. They also make you feel appreciated and needed.
What is one thing you want families to know as they’re moving their loved one in?
I usually greet them right away, introduce myself and let them know I am here to help you in anyway you need.
