How long have you been working in senior living and what first made you interested in the field?
I have been working for less than 6 months with Northbridge. What first drew me to this field was the opportunity to use my skills to make a meaningful, daily impact on people’s lives. This allows me to form lasting relationships with people I am helping. The Executive Directors investment in the community was inviting
What is your favorite part about working in senior living?
My favorite part is the residents. Getting to hear the stories, see their smiles, and know that my work directly contributes to their comfort and safety makes the days rewarding.
What is one thing you wish everyone new about being a Maintenance Director?
I wish that people knew that this is much more than just fixing things. It is about creating a true sense of home and fulfilling resident’s needs, and ensuring peace of mind for both associates, residents and their families.
What is one piece of advice you would share with someone thinking of starting a career in senior living?
My one piece of advice is to to bring your empathy and patience to work every day. Technical skills are important, but having a genuine heart for serving seniors is what will truly make you successful.
What is the best part about working at Autumn Glen or at Northbridge?
The best part of working at Autumn Glen is the strong sense of community and team collaboration.
What is your favorite way to help a new family during the move in process?
I love personally welcoming them on move-in day and helping them set up their living space. Making there new apartment safe and comfortable like home.
